Evaluation
My initial concept for my idea was that it would
be about mental health. I decided this as mental health awareness isn’t put on
the main stream media enough. This may be because the owners think that it isn’t
worth there time or that it just isn’t news worthy. But I personally feel like mental
health isn’t put on the main stream news enough. The message I was trying to
give was that mental health is something that many people go through but just doesn’t
tell anyone about due to the fact people would judge them or act differently around
them. This is also because mainstream media doesn’t speak a lot about it so
people don’t know much about mental health and how to even try tell if someone
is going through mental health. My target audience for this project does not
have an age group as mental health can affect everyone and anyone at different
ages. I have a huge passion about
projects which you can pick what you want to talk about ass this would show
people what you think is wrong or what is affecting society and that people don’t
know about. The specialism I have followed is making a triptych which has 3
pictures which are combined to send a message through.
The research I carried
out was one which was doing a questionnaire. I decided to do a questionnaire to
get a good picture of what is actually happening in society and things people don’t
tell each other. I had than decided to do a questionnaire which was 5 questions
long. The questions had yes, no, maybe answers in it. This was because some
people may not want to tell the truth so they would rather circle maybe than
yes or no. This questionnaire remained anonymous as I didn’t want people to
feel like they would get judged or questioned by me due to their answers. I planned
my product well I personally think this is because of the way I had used my
brain and images from the internet to help me decide what to choose and what
not to choose and how to go my layout and how not to do it. I managed my time
well but one thing I was not really happy about is the way I was putting my
work on the blog. I should have been putting my work on the blog straight away
but I wasn’t and kept putting it on a week later.
The audience for my product is everyone which has been affected by
mental health or know someone who is affected by it. This is due to the fact
that it isn’t put enough on main stream media. I would like my work to be put
out in different places to show that mental health is everywhere but people are
afraid to tell people about it. This is because of how society is and that
people are scared about getting judged by people just because of their mental
health.
I had
used bright colours and an oddly shaped design which would be more eye catching
than a simple straight line design. I used 3 key pictures which everyone should
look for when it comes to mental health. Those 3 pictures would always be in
the viewers mind as it is facial positions that can be seen everywhere but people
in society are scared to go to talk to that certain person as they are scared
they won’t listen. The way I selected the context to appeal to my audience is
by using different shaped than normal triptychs as it would be more eye
catching. I used tone and brightness to effect the way my pictures look this is
by showing the sadder pictures in a darker tone and then the happier pictures
in a brighter tone.
The equipment
used was a camera, tripod and photo studio. This was all shot in the studio.
Than when the editing was to be done I had used Adobe Photoshop cc 2018. This
is the newest version of Photoshop. I had a few issues when it came to taking
the photos as it was not focusing properly but then I had adjusted the camera
setting and then started to take the pictures which gave me a clearer image.
The next issue I encountered was when it came to Photoshop as I was given
errors and my Photoshop kept crashing on me. My skills have developed a lot as I
have used many more tools which would be handy for me to use when it comes to
my future projects.
My project
matches exactly to my initial idea this is because I had the whole idea of
creating an idea like that due to the fact I like the look of that design when I
created it on Photoshop at first. The way I developed my initial idea was
looking at main stream media and seeing that mental health isn’t covered much
on it. So this made me want to do it about mental health. I enjoyed doing it
about mental health as it made me understand a lot more about it but then I also
wanted to help inform people about mental health and how to spot it. If I had
more time I would improve my project by adding more messages so people
understand more about mental health and how to spot it when someone has it.
This would have been hard to do as it would make it harder for the viewer to
read the messages as it harder to read when a lot of text is on it.
